ODLAN’s Response to the 2024 U.S. Election – Executive Director Statement

ODLAN’s Response to the 2024 U.S. Election

We are deeply concerned by the results of the U.S. election. A significant portion of voters elected a candidate who openly opposes human rights for Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, people with disabilities, people of color, and women. It is alarming that, in 2024, we are witnessing a sharp increase in hate directed at our communities. White supremacy, patriarchy, and fascism are fueling a surge in anti-2SLGBTQIA+ sentiment across the United States, Canada, and beyond.

Yet, even in the face of this escalating hostility, our communities remain resilient. We are united in our commitment to care for one another and to resist any forces that seek to undermine our fundamental right to exist. At ODLAN, we will continue to advocate fiercely for digital inclusion, safety, and access. Our work is more crucial than ever as we address the rise of hate targeting 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

We stand united, unwavering in our commitment to protect, uplift, and empower 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and all those striving for justice.
